Foggy Fall Morning

I love Fall. Although Spring is hard to beat... Fall is probably my favorite time to take outdoor photos. It's starting to cool off, and the leaves are just beginning to show a little color. For those of  you who were waiting for some Fall color before booking your outdoor portraits, now's the time! I have a (very) few openings left before the leaves start to fall, so give me a call if you'd like an Autumn session. No post is complete without a photo...so I'll share a few fun ones I took with my dogs over the weekend. When I went to take them for their morning walk on Sunday, I noticed the sunrise shining through the thinning fog....so of course I had to grab the camera and make the pooches pose!!

Three Dog Weekend

I had three great dogs out this past weekend: Sophia, Roxanne & Nixon. Sophia was first, and brought several very cute outfit changes complete with matching hair bows. Too cute! Then Roxanne & Nixon came out together on Saturday. All three of these dogs had wonderful personality and spunk. Their people should be proud!

Bloopers

As you can imagine, when photographing pets there are going to be some outtakes. In my quest to find Merlin a forever home, I decided it was time for some new photographs of him. We set out one sunny day last week, and came up with some great photos. But, I think the bloopers may have been even more priceless than the portraits, take a look...

In order to get these portraits, I pulled out a top-secret weapon: bowtie pasta. Some nice al dente bowtie pasta is one of Merlin's favorite treats, no idea why. Here are some funnies of him trying to catch said pasta...

Leo, the camera hog, was getting jealous of all the attention Merlin was getting. I decided it was time to take a break from portrait-taking and go for a walk in the woods. As I was kneeling down to take a picture of some purple violets (you can just barely see a few in the background) all of a sudden, there's a big giant dog-head in my picture. So I obliged and snapped a few of my big goofball.

And just to make sure I kept the camera turned his way, he whipped out his own secret weapon: my favorite head-tilt pose...

Lastly, we have what reminds me of something you would see on an African Safari. Some wild beast taking down it's prey...but it's only my friendly little guy Clyde trying to herd Leo back towards home. 

A Merlin kind of day...

Merlin does not like precipitation of any kind. You can bet that if it is a rainy, snowy or even foggy day that Merlin is going to speed outside, quickly do his business and then sail back to the house and curl up on his cushion. As you can imagine, this winter has not been the best for Mr. Merlin. It seems like we have had nothing but rain, snow and ice at least once a week all season. But, finally! A glimpse of Spring is here this week, with temps predicted in the 60s all week with three straight days of no rain! Merlin is jumping for joy, and again pursuing his one true passion- hunting sticks. Perhaps more appropriately I should say hoarding sticks. He finds a stick, chews on it forever, then rolls on it before whisking it away to his kennel to add to his massive collection.

Katie & Morgan

Katie and Morgan came out to the studio this morning for portraits. I've heard that Katie fancies herself quite a tough-girl at home...but when she got to the studio she was terrified of the camera and tried to hide each time it was pointed in her direction. After a bit, she warmed up and took some adorable photos. Morgan was a pro, and would do anything for a treat. She struck many cute poses while keeping her eye on the food. Both dogs were a blast to work with!
